Folkestone Invicta have confirmed that they have agreed a deal for the signature of 20-year-old Sittingbourne striker Harry Smith who will travel with the squad for Saturday's away game at Tooting & Mitcham.

Speaking early on Friday, manager Neil Cugley said: “Harry’s serving a one-game suspension tomorrow, and the paperwork has not yet been completed so he will be in the squad for the first time at Molesey on Tuesday.

“He’s a big lad – six foot five, I believe – and at 20 years old is another one for the future.

“We’re paying a nominal fee which has been funded by two friends of the club. I made a couple of phonecalls yesterday morning and they agreed to come up with the money. We’ve got some great friends at this football club.”

Part of the agreement for Smith’s transfer would see Sittingbourne receive 15% of any future transfer fee while former Hythe midfielder Jordan Wells moves in the opposite direction - from Folkestone to Sittingbourne.

The move comes just over month after Smith turned down a move to Ryman League Division 1 South rivals Hythe Town.

Wells was voted Hythe's young player of the year last season.

Neil Cugley has also revealed that Invicta are currently negotiating international clearance for a midfielder/defender who has played at a good standard and who approached the club after recently moving into the area.

“These things usually take around 10 days or so, but he should be available to play for us within the next couple of weeks,” Cugley added.
