Folkestone 0 Maidstone 1

Mo Takaloo inspired Maidstone to a 1-0 victory against Folkestone keeping the Stones in the Ryman League Premier Division at the expense of their hosts on Saturday.

The Stones started the brighter and scored the decisive goal on 26 minutes when Takaloo latched onto a long clearance before lobbing the ball over the onrushing Luke Stonebridge.

Folkestone should have levelled soon afterwards but Leigh Bremner shot wide when clean through. Meanwhile, Ian Selley came close to doubling United's lead but his rasping 25-yard drive struck a post.

Maidstone had the better of the early second half chances with Lee Shearer heading wide and Nathan Paul forcing Folkestone's Frankie Chappell to slice a clearance over his own bar.

Invicta tried to impose themselves on the game but the Stones' backline held firm and they went close three times at the other end.

First, Takaloo forced a fine reflex save out of Stonebridge before Mark Saunders flashed a header wide from the resulting corner, and then substitute Jacob Erskine saw his shot trickle just off target.

However, it mattered little as Chappell saw red with 10 minutes to go, allowing Maidstone to see out the final few minutes with relative ease much to the jubilation of their large travelling support.
