Hythe Town fixtures against Sittingbourne and Worthing this week mean they will have played four times in eight days

Hythe Town manager Scott Porter admits that playing four games in eight days is going to take it out of his threadbare squad.

Saturday’s 4-0 win at Corinthian Casuals was followed by a home game against the same opponents last night (Tuesday).

It’s a punishing schedule, particularly given that Hythe only had 14 players available for the Casuals game last weekend.

Porter said: "It’s going to take its toll because I’ve got a small squad with some older heads in there. I’ve got to hope we stay injury-free.

"But the boys are full of beans and the morale in the side is good. Richard Quigley’s playing on Saturdays for Lydd (in the Kent Invicta League) but I can call on him for weekdays."

Two wins from three games before last night suggests Hythe have turned a corner after tasting victory only twice in their previous 12 outings.

But Porter said: "We haven’t cracked anything yet.

"We enjoyed the three points on Saturday but there’s a lot of hard work still to do if we want to get the right side of the table."
