FOLKESTONE Rugby Club had a special reason to celebrate at their first vice-president's lunch on Saturday with the award of the Sport England Clubmark and the RFU Seal of Approval for Community Rugby.

The awards were presented by Kent RFU president Mike Newsom to organiser Lorraine Dagger and makes Folkestone one of an elite number of clubs in the south east who have earned the achievement.

The award recognizes that the clubs are providing a safe, effective and child-friendly environment in their junior sections and committed to the continued development of young rugby players.

This coming Saturday Mike Newsom will present the Community Seal of Approval to Canterbury Rugby Club before the league match against Tabard.

The presentation is scheduled to be made at 1pm and marks the culmination of tremendous efforts by the club's Junior Section to gain the coveted seal.
