Folkestone Invicta 4 Weymouth 1

FOLKESTONE Invicta moved off the bottom of the Dr Martens League, Premier Division, table after their biggest win of the season against fellow strugglers Weymouth.

After not winning at Cheriton Road since last March, Invicta have now won their last two home Premier Division matches, following up their win over Chelmsford thanks to goals from Allan Tait (2), Martin Chandler and James Dryden.

Martin Chandler had gone close with an early free kick and it was the 20-year-old midfielder who opened the scoring after 17 minutes with a spectacular chip from 25 yards.

But Invicta had goalkeeper Maurice Munden to thank for a penalty save right on half time when the veteran got down to his right to save Simon Browne's low strike. The spot kick had been awarded for a John Guest challenge on Martyn Sullivan.

Invicta got off to a perfect start to the second half when Tait made it 2-0 in the 47th minute after getting in behind defender Toby Redwood to latch onto a James Dryden through ball.

But Weymouth pulled a goal back after 55 minutes when substitute David Laws got the final touch on the line at the far post when Sullivan got in a shot from Mark Robinson's left wing cross.

Invicta restored their two-goal advantage just two minutes later when Dryden headed in as Tait got the ball across from the right after Ayling had headed on a free kick.

And Tait headed in at the far post in the 90th minute as Dryden chipped the ball in from the left following a good bal from left back Dan Larkin.
