Gravesend: Suspected rogue traders arrested after £50,000 scam

Suspected rogue traders have been arrested on suspicion of scamming two elderly victims out of more than £50,000.

The two men allegedly offered to replace a fence at a home in the Hever Court Road area of Gravesend last Monday.

The victims reportedly handed over a total of £51,400 for the work.

Bank staff contacted police to report the offence on Tuesday.

The suspects, one aged 60 and the other aged 47, both from Essex, were arrested the next day.

They have been released on bail until Sunday, May 20.

Officers will now carry out further inquiries.

Police spokesman Jordan Bluer said: "If you have been a victim of rogue trading and have not spoken to an officer, or you believe rogue traders are operating in your area, please call Kent Police on 101.

"Alternatively, call Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
