The patrol requested the driver of the car to stop but he failed to do so.

The driver managed to evade pursuing officers after he fled from the vehicle on foot.

A wartime device was then found after the car was searched. A safety cordon was put in place.

It was later confirmed to be a decommissioned grenade.

The Ministry of Defence was notified, and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended and deemed the item safe and took it away for disposal.

Enquiries to locate the driver of the vehicle are ongoing.
