A 16-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after being stabbed at a block of flats.

Emergency services were called to Homemead Court, Gravesend, at 3.30pm on Friday after reports of a teenager suffering multiple stab wounds on the eighth floor.

The teenager was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remains.

A witness said an air ambulance attended and landed outside the nearby Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara temple.

Two ambulances, three police cars, one of which was unmarked, and a first responder unit were also in attendance at the scene in Home Mead Close.

Kent Police spokesman Martin Very said: "We are investigating reports that a teenage boy was assaulted on December 27 in Home Mead Close Gravesend, at approximately 3.20pm. A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital with injuries consistent with stab wounds. His injuries are described as serious but not life threatening, and inquiries into the incident are ongoing."

His attacker is still at large.
