A boy has died and another has been arrested after an incident which sparked a huge emergency response.

Police were called at 5.45pm yesterday to concerns for the welfare of a boy in Singlewell Road, Gravesend.

At the time, three police cars, an ambulance and fire crews were spotted at the junction of Cross Lane West and Cross Lane East. An air ambulance was also seen leaving Woodlands Park nearby.

A boy was subsequently taken to hospital, where he later died. His next of kin are aware.

As part of an investigation to establish the circumstances another boy has been arrested.

Police said both boys are under 12.

This afternoon, part of Cross Lane West remained cordoned off – a small access route which leads through to garages. Police officers are standing at the cordon.
