Kent Police has released an image of a man they would like to trace in connection with a break-in at Vigo Rugby Club in Meopham on 10 January.

Police have released an image of a man they would like to trace in connection with a break-in at Vigo Rugby Club in Meopham.

Thieves broke into the premises on Harvel Road at around 3.40am on January 10, triggering an alarm.

They are believed to have hidden for up to an hour until the alarm system shut off.

Once inside the club, they stole items including bottles of spirits - Smirnoff vodka, Martell brandy and Jack Daniels whisky - as well as soft drinks, a television and confectionery, and vandalised the storeroom and bar.

All bottles were marked in black marker pen, with the initials of the club - VRFC.

A CCTV image of a man inside the premises has now been obtained and officers would like to identify him.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Gerry King said: "We are trying to trace this man as we believe he will be able to assist us in investigating this matter.

"We are also asking members of the public to be on the lookout for these distinctly marked bottles of spirits and to contact us if anyone has been offered them for sale."

Anyone with any information is asked to call Kent Police's non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference XY/1084/13, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
