Confusion over rubbish collection in Gravesham

APOLOGY: senior editor Sandra Hembery

THE senior editor of the Gravesend and Dartford editions of the Extra free newspaper, Sandra Hembery, has apologised for any confusion caused to readers by an advertisement for rubbish collection times over Christmas.

The advertisement, placed by Dartford Borough Council, appeared in the paper the week before Christmas.

However, despite the four-page advert referring to collections in Dartford, some readers mistakenly assumed the collection times advertised were for Gravesham.

Gravesham Council promoted its refuse disposal times in its Your Borough magazine as well as with supplies of black sacks and other press advertising.

But Ms Hembery said in a memo to Gravesham chief executive Jim Wintour: "It is clear that some confusion was inadvertently caused and we very much regret that."

For the week commencing Monday, January 1, rubbish and recycle collection in Gravesham is running a day behind. For instance residents who usually have their collection on Monday will have it on Tuesday instead.

Normal service will resume on Monday, January 8.
