Gravesham council has released an update on how its services are being affected by the weather.

Staff are working to clear the backlog of bins that haven't been collected this week as quickly and safely as possible.

Crews will be out today for normal scheduled collections and residents are being asked to put out their refuse and recycling as normal.

Gravesham council has issued an update

Due to poor road conditions, there may be some disruption.

Those with bins that were due to be collected on Tuesday or Wednesday should continue to leave them out.

However, those waiting for their garden waste bin to be collected should take their bins back inside and wait for their next collection date.

Bulky waste collection has also been suspended for today, and those waiting for sharps or medical waste to be picked up should be aware that this service has been disrupted.

All car parks and play areas are open as normal, alongside Gravesham Borough Market.

The Woodville is also offering a 'snow day' film at 2pm, for £3 a ticket.

Both Cascades and Cygnet leisure centres will close at 8pm today.

Gritters are in place around the borough, and updates can be found on twitter at @GrittingKent

Kent County Council is responsible for both gritting and salt bins and more information can be found on their winter service web page http://bit.ly/1RRiZbr

Drivers have been urged to take care on the roads, and follow the hashtag #KentSnow for updates.

Further information on school closures can also be found on www.kentclosures.co.uk

Gravesham council's customer services department will remain open as usual.
