A busy route was closed throughout rush hour following a crash.

Work to clear a fuel spillage on the A226 London Road in Greenhithe has now been completed.

Traffic was very heavy in the area, near the B255 The Avenue, but congestion had cleared by 10am.

Motorists have been warned of delays. Stock picture.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 08.05am on Friday 16 March to London Road in Greenhithe following reports of a collision involving two vehicles.

"No injuries were reported and the road was clear once an oil spill had been dealt with at 9.30am."
