A five-car pile up left nine people taken to hospital late last night.

The crash took place between junctions one and two of the M20 near Wrotham at 11.10.

Described as “serious” by Kent Fire and Rescue Service, the incident saw both drivers and passengers taken to hospital. There were no fatalities.

Crews from Dartford and Larkfield stations attended the scene, cutting one person free from their car and assisting paramedics with first aid.

Firefighters were at the scene for around two hours.

It is not yet known what caused the incident. Police also attended.
