Gravesend’s Cyclopark is to get £50,000 of National Lottery funding to help improve facilities, it has been announced.

The money will help provide new lighting, a sound system and race tracking technology at the BMX racing park, which is one 24 sports projects in the South East receiving a share of £2.61 million from the Lottery.

The announcement comes as Sport England revealed that it has reached a major funding milestone, having invested £5 billion in grass-roots sport in the last 20 years.

Sport England’s Property Director, Charles Johnston, said: “The latest round of facility funding continues to make a noticeable difference to community sports clubs across the country.

"By giving people top-class, sustainable facilities in which to play sport, and by improving and protecting our playing surfaces, we’re ensuring that more people can pay sport, more often.”

A total of 149 projects across England were awarded new funding today (Monday), totalling £16.5 million of National Lottery money.
