Fighters from Del’s Fitness Centre in Gravesend enjoyed a successful weekend at a series of competitions both at home and abroad.

The Queen Street centre, run by Danny Dhell, sent fighters from various age groups to events in Dartford, Wolverhampton, Herne Bay, Epsom Downs and even Paris.

Austin Edwards, 34, was crowned champion at the English Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Open at Dartford Judo Club, while coach Valmyr Neto emerged victorious in the French capital.

Mixed martial artists Nick Manik, 22, Gurd Shergill, 24, and Tanvir Boora, 17, came out on top of their respective bouts at Epsom Downs Racecourse.

Nick and Gurd both dominated all three of their rounds, whilst Tanvir made short work of his fight; finishing with a rear naked choke in just 51 seconds.

Italian Giovanni Olaru, 26, was in action at Herne Bay, but unfortunately fell short in his pursuit of the English K1 title.

Danny was proud of how his centre’s fighters performed throughout the weekend.

“Win, lose or draw everyone fighting and coaching did us proud this weekend,” he said.

“We are so happy that we have such a close family unit with everyone supporting each other.”

Next up is Killacam Fight Night in Margate on December 12.

Gurd Shergill and Jayden Hoyle will be back in action, alongside Nathan Sparks, in the mixed martial arts, while Tanvir Boora will fight for the lightweight title.
