A motorist is in custody on suspicion of drink-driving after a Range Rover crashed into another vehicle and reportedly fled the scene.

The 37-year-old was arrested after a black 4x4 vehicle hit another car carrying a family-of-four in West Street, Gravesend, shortly before 7pm last night.

It is understood the impact of the collision was so severe, one of the wheels of the Range Rover broke off.

The Range Rover came to a stop at the traffic lights on Thames Way near Covesfield

However, the vehicle is said to have failed to stop and was driven on its remaining three wheels through the Imperial Business Park, along Thames Way and up the hill until it eventually came to a stop near traffic lights at the junction of Covesfield.

A man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and remains in custody.
