The morning after a bank holiday is hard enough but a power cut in Wrotham Road, Gravesend, made things even worse for some people today.

The power went off just after 8.10 and engineers from UK Power Networks are still working hard to get people back online.

A spokeswoman from the firm said she did not know when the power would be back on.

She said: "UK Power Networks engineers are dealing with a complicated fault on the underground electricity network, in the Wrotham Road area of Gravesend.

"There are 20 properties affected by this fault and we would like to reassure our customers that we are working as quickly and as safely we can to restore supplies. We apologise for any inconvenience this is causing."
