Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish

Liam Daish will go back to basics in a bid to reverse the fortunes of his struggling Ebbsfleet squad.

The Fleet are languishing in the Blue Square Premier relegation zone having gone 12 matches without a win, including five games without a goal.

However, Daish (pictured) says he can take several positives out of his side’s improved performance in the 1-0 home defeat to Wrexham on Saturday.

"The mood in the camp is all right," he said. "Obviously we were all disappointed with the result but there are several positives which I can take from the performance.

The Fleet ended the game with nine men. Leon Crooks received a straight red for a professional foul, while on-loan Elliot Charles was dismissed for a lunge on the Wrexham keeper.

Charles’ dismissal was his final act in a Fleet shirt. He was sent back to Barnet on Monday as a three-game ban would have ruled him out of the remainder of his one-month loan.

The Fleet squad are in for a gruelling few days as they do not have another game until the league trip to York on November 14.

Daish said: "We have got a free Saturday and I thought we would do a sort of mini pre-season. The players will be doing some leg-work, getting some hard days into their legs. We’ll be going up and around the hills and parks around Gravesend."
