Liam Daish has hailed his Ebbsfleet players as "brilliant and fantastic" as they continue to punch above their weight in Blue Square Premier ahead of another long away excursion to Grimsby on Saturday.

And while determined to stay competitive on the pitch, Daish (pictured) understands the club have to continue to be prudent off it after chairman Phil Sonsara hinted last week that cost savings may have to be made due to the club’s lack of home games.

Daish said: "I haven’t spoken to the chairman myself but our situation is nothing like Darlington’s, who are trying to reduce an £800,000 wage bill. We are not even near that but it’s a tough league and we know every pound counts."

Fleet head to Grimsby this weekend looking to follow-up their 3-1 win against The Mariners in October, a victory earned despite going behind in the first minute.

Boss Liam Daish said: "We did well against them then but it’s another tough challenge for us against an ex-League side."

How impressed have you been with the Fleet this season? Comment below.
