Emergency response after "chemical smell" at school

EMERGENCY services were called to a Gravesham school this morning (Thursday)after staff reported smelling chemicals.

Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service all attended the incident at Meopham Primary School, in Wrotham Road, at around 10.15am.

On investigation firefighters from Thames-side and Strood discovered the smell was coming from a nearby field due to a farmer spraying crops with chemicals.

The school was not evacuated.
