The independent school in Pelham Road was praised for pupils' attitudes to learning, problem-solving skills and understanding of themselves and their well-being.

The report also noted that pupils demonstrated high levels of academic achievement and extra-curricular success which "resulted from the challenging and highly-committed teaching within a deeply caring and nurturing pastoral care environment".

Head teacher Emma Wood said: "I am incredibly proud of this report which is a direct result of the professionalism and dedication of all staff and the support of the whole Bronte School community."

The report said in the context of the excellent outcomes, the school might wish to consider two things, including developing the effectiveness of written feedback to strengthen students' abilities to improve their work, and strengthen their independence, risk-taking and leadership by providing more open-ended and pupil-led tasks.

The rating came from the Independent Schools Inspectorate, a Department for Education-appointed organisation and that sector's equivalent of Ofsted.
