Gravesend remembers fallen on Armistice Day with service in Community Sqaure

Hundreds turned out to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
More than 600 people attended the Pause to Remember service in the Community Square, Gravesend, today.
The Armistice Day service included a two minute silence, with hymns and readings.
One of the readings was a poem written by St John's Roman Catholic School pupil, Summer Horan, it was performed by Robert Tucker, from Gravesend Grammar School.
Armistice Day has been marked on November 11 since 1919, a year after the First World War ended and the allied forces signed an agreement with the Germans.
Britain lost 8.9million people during the Great War and this year marks its centenary.
Gravesham mayor Cllr John Caller, said: “Remembrance Sunday and the two minute silence has been observed in the borough since the end of the first world war.
“As the Mayor of Gravesham I am proud to be a part of this year’s services, remembering those who fought for our freedom during World Wars and honour those who have lost their lives in more recent conflicts.”
