A FARMER'S field of corn has been left damaged after a fire.

Fire fighters were called to the blaze in Thong Lane, Gravesend at about 6.25pm last night.

Six pumps fought the flames as the wind assisted its path but later, after a change in wind direction, it was scaled down to just three.

The fire was extinguished within the hour but about two hectares of the corn were destroyed.
