A girl has been rescued after being buried alive on a beach.

It is thought 15-year-old Paige Anderson was digging a tunnel with her sister when it collapsed on top of her.

Her father, Michael, is believed to come from Gravesend.

She was on holiday with him in Norfolk when the incident happened.

Police were called, just after 3pm, on Friday (August 5) to reports of a teenager in difficulty on the beach off Beach Road, Caister.

Officers found the girl unconscious, and buried in a hole in the sand.

She was airlifted by an RAF helicopter to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston.
