Man fights for life after being hit by car in Gravesend town centre

A man is fighting for his life today after being knocked down by a car in Gravesend town centre.

The 51-year-old pedestrian was hit by a green Citreon Berlingo in Milton Road at 1pm on Wednesday.

Kent Police today said he remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

The local man was taken to a London hospital with head and chest injuries after being hit near the Peacock Street junction.

The car, driven by a 66-year-old local woman, was travelling in the direction of the town centre.

Witnesses are asked to phone the Kent Police Serious Collision Unit on 01622 798538.
