Parents have submitted a bid to set up a new free school in Northfleet in response to a shortage of primary places in Gravesham.

The Department for Education received plans last Thursday to open Hope Community School in September 2017.

According to parents, a decision is expected in the autumn. If successful the school will be built at the Springhead Park development.

The proposals have been supported by parents of 145 children who would be eligible for places at the school.

The team behind the bid are organising an under 5s fun day at Eastgate community hall in Springfield Parkway on Wednesday, July 15. Entrance is £2.
