More than 250 people visited a ‘cake and cuddles’ fundraiser in honour of our furry friends.

It raised £800 for Bow Lodge Babies Cat Rescue, a non-profit organisation run by volunteers.

Nine animals were given a new home thanks to the event, which was held last Saturday in Chalk.

The team also has a list of homechecks to carry out, before housing their next mum and her babies. The money raised will be used to support animals like Albert, who has a thyroid problem requiring, sometimes costly, medical treatment.

He was the only cat who didn’t receive any interest at the fundraiser.

Bow Lodge Cat Rescue has been running for 30 years since its very first cat, Bow, was rescued by founder Maria Revell.

It serves Kent, Thurrock and the surrounding areas. Since her retirement, it has been taken over by managers Sarah Revell and Laura Palfrey.

They said: “We are very proud of this event and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended.

“We homed lots of our felines and the money raised will be a huge help towards future costs.”
