Bronte Nursery in Pelham Road, Gravesend has Ofsted decision overturned

Published: 09:00, 12 March 2014

Tots at a nursery have no excuse to get outside whatever the weather.

Little ones at Bronte Nursery have some new play equipment to enjoy.

The nursery in Pelham Road, Gravesend, has also kitted out staff with waterproof clothes and boots so youngsters can go out even if it is wet.

Toddlers will also benefit from a new outdoor play area so they can have fun outside in a safe environment.

Nursery owner Susan Carter said: “We made it a slightly larger area and extended our outdoor classroom so the children could be taken out in all weathers.”

The nursery was deemed inadequate by school watchdog Ofsted last June but fought to get the decision overturned.

Mrs Carter and her husband and co-owner Peers successfully appealed against the decision.

After complaining to the organisation’s National Complaints Team, they cancelled the rating and took it off Ofsted’s website.

They re-inspected the nursery a couple of weeks later and rated Bronte as ‘good’ in all three main areas – how well it met the needs of the children, its contribution to their well-being and the effectiveness of both leadership and management.

In the report the “good progress” children made overall was praised and the healthy food served.
