Inquest open after Sifa Rifat, 88, died in collision with car in London Road, Northfleet

An 88-year-old woman who died after being knocked down by car has been named as Sifa Rifat.
An inquest into the death of the retired seamstress was opened today.
The married mother died last Monday afternoon in London Road, Northfleet.
The tragedy happened just outside Cleveland House, a warden-controlled sheltered housing block for older people, where is it believed she lived.
The date of the full inquest is yet to be fixed as police investigations continue.
People have paid their respects with flowers and notes.
She was hit by a blue Audi A6 between Rosherville primary and Our Lady of Assumption church.
The driver of the car – a 27-year-old man from Northfleet – was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death while uninsured.
He has been bailed until Monday, August 22, while inquiries continue.
