Liam Daish says the ramifications of Ebbsfleet’s shock FA Cup exit have left their mark on the club.

Midfielder Scott Ginty was released last week due to budgetary reasons and the Stonebridge Road boss hinted the club were forced into making other decisions but wouldn’t elaborate on what they were.

Daish (pictured) responded by bringing midfielder Neil Barrett back to the club on non-contract terms and signing striker Nathaniel Pinney on a month’s loan from Crystal Palace.

He said: "Nothing positive came out of the defeat at Redbridge and made it a tough week. The game at Newport couldn’t come quickly enough for me.

"Scott has had his injury problems and was nursing the recurrence of another problem and it couldn’t carry on because the club’s finances have been hit hard."

Barrett is back at the club where he made 63 appearances, scoring eight goals in his previous spell, before moving to York in 2009. He joined Havant in June.

Daish added: "We looked to bring him in before the Redbridge game but he was cup-tied. He came in last week and his fitness was good."

Pinney’s debut in the 1-0 win at Newport excited Daish who is looking forward to the Crystal Palace youngster’s time at the club.

The striker, who celebrates his 21st birthday next week, has initially arrived on a month’s loan after spells at Woking and Braintree last season.
