Call the Experts

Dozens of people have been without water due to a technical problem at a reservoir.

Southern Water received 41 calls from people in Riverview and Kings Farm, Gravesend, saying they had no water, and 14 calls from people "experiencing discoloured water."

Many said the water looked like milk.

A Southern Water spokeswoman said: "We had a technical problem with a valve at one water reservoir which affected services in that area."

She said the problem started at 10am yesterday (Tuesday, May 29) and was fixed by 2pm the same day.

She apologised for any inconvenience caused and said: "If customers do find their water is discoloured they should run their water until it clears. It is usually harmless deposits."
