Man appears at Medway Magistrates Court on suspicion of stealing BMW from Gravesend driveway

A man has appeared in court on suspicion of car theft minutes after the vehicle was reported stolen.

Karolis Petrauskas, 32, of no fixed address, has appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court after he was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, driving without insurance and a licence.

Police was called to Lennox Road, Gravesend just before Midnight on Tuesday, February 6, to a report of a BMW being stolen from a driveway.

The stolen car was stopped by officers at 12.10am in Stonebridge Road, Northfleet.

One man was arrested at the scene.

The keys to the car were inside the house at the time of the incident and were not removed from the property.

Karolis was bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court Tuesday, March 20.
