Police appeal for witnesses after man 'bashed over head' in Northfleet robbery

A man was bashed over the head and robbed at a cash machine, it is reported.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the Northfleet attack.

The incident is reported to have happened in the High Street between 3.50pm and 4pm on Sunday.

A man is said to have followed the victim after watching him withdraw money from a cash machine at a shop.

As the victim continued along the road towards Gravesend he said he was struck on the back of the head by the man as he crossed Station Road.

It was then alleged that the man grabbed the victim’s bag, hurting the victim’s wrist in the process, before running away down a footpath located between Hive Lane and Factory Road.

Items reported stolen include cash, a bank card, passport and mobile phone.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 9ins, of large build with blue eyes and short hair. He is said to have a grey beard and thought to be between 40 and 45 years old.
