A MAN alleged to have flashed at several Gravesend schoolgirls, as well as exposing himself to a woman driver, has claimed he was falsely accused.

Gavin MacDonald told a jury he was not the man girls saw committing the offences and the woman misunderstood what she saw.

Maidstone Crown Court has heard the 24-year-old targeted small groups of schoolgirls near his home in late 2007.

Ten victims, aged 11 to 16, have given evidence via a TV link during the trial. Most of them were said to have picked MacDonald out of an identification procedure as the offender.

MacDonald said he was shocked at being arrested for flashing when he had done no such thing.

The victims, he suggested, were either mistaken or making false allegations against him.

In June last year, MacDonald went to see his barrister in Maidstone about the allegations.

"Did you get a kick out of talking about it? asked Mr Forbes. "What were you thinking about as you drove home?"

MacDonald replied: "I was thinking about getting done for something I hadn't done."

While behind the wheel of his Citroen car, he was alleged to have exposed himself to the woman driver.

MacDonald claimed his belt was pinching his skin and he lifted his pelvis off the seat to adjust it.

He agreed it was "a horrible misunderstanding".

MacDonald denies five charges of exposure and two of engaging in sexual activity in front of a child.
