Joe Chuter denies murdering Ronnie Smith in Gravesend

A 28-year-old man accused of committing a murder will stand trial next year.

Joe Chuter denied murdering Ronnie Smith, 31, in St Patrick's Gardens in Gravesend on Saturday, July 21.

Police said an altercation was reported to have taken place at an address in Taunton Vale at around 7.45pm.

Mr Smith, also known as Ronnie Vine, from Cranbrook, suffered head and stomach wounds at about 8pm.

He was taken to a London hospital but died the following morning.

Chuter, of Taunton Vale, entered the plea at Maidstone Crown Court by TV link with Elmley Prison on Monday.

His trial is due to start on January 14.

Kent Air Ambulance landed at the time

A pre-trial review will be held on December 7.

He was remanded in custody.
