Costica Ciapa charged with killing a father in a fatal crash in London Road, Gravesend, will appear at crown court

A man charged with killing a father in a fatal crash will appear at crown court later this month.

Costica Ciapa, 27, of no fixed address, is accused of causing death by dangerous driving, dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision, failing to report a collision, causing death while driving a vehicle unlicensed and causing death while driving a vehicle uninsured.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 28 at Maidstone Crown Court.

Rimantas Karvelis, 56, who died after being hit by a black Vauxhall Astra on Saturday, October 24, in London Road, Gravesend.

Ciapa was released on bail until then.

Pedestrian Rimantas Karvelis, a 56-year-old from Lithuania who was visiting his family, suffered serious injuries after being involved in an accident with a car in London Road, Gravesend, on October 24 last year.

He was taken to a London hospital, where he died on November 3.
