The government is looking to appoint a new chief executive to spearhead proposals for a new garden city at Ebbsfleet.

The Department for Communities and Local Government has advertised the £140,000-a-year role to head up the Ebbsfleet Urban Development Corporation.

The creation of the 15,000 garden city was announced by Chancellor George Osborne last March, who pledged £200 million towards the project.

Surprise visit by chancellor George Osborne earlier this year off the back of the announcement that Ebbsfleet is to become a new garden city.

The advert reads: "The Department for Communities and Local Government is seeking someone with strong leadership and commercial experience to provide advice to the Department on the structure and operation of the Corporation and to play an active part in ongoing commercial work led by DCLG to deliver the garden city.

"Subject to Parliamentary approval of the necessary legislation (expected in the first half of 2015), the individual will become the Chief Executive leading the organisation.
