BAFTA award-winning actor Barry Keoghan was spotted in Kent today filming for a new production, rumoured to be for the BBC.

There were advance warning signs put up in King Street and Windmill Street in Gravesend, earlier this week announcing the roads would be closed today (June 21).

Another notice was put up this morning saying: “Please be advised that filming is taking place in this area in connection with the production of a film provisionally entitled “Bird (Film).”

Barry Keoghan, who played The Joker in The Batman and has been in Dunkirk and Eternals, will be in the film – although no plot details are known.

He was nominated for an Academy Award and won a BAFTA last year for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin.

Those passing through the area have been told they may be filmed, photographed and recorded in the background.

It is not the first time the town has been in the spotlight. Last year TV presenter Michael Portillo was spotted filming at the historic pier and Netflix’s The Crown and Junior Bake Off has been filmed at Cobham Hall.

Nell's Cafe, just off the A2 in Gravesend, has been used as a filming location for countless shows including BBC's Killing Eve and Sky One's Temple.
