Suspects accused of cable theft after police find machete and baseball bat

Police have arrested suspects accused of stealing cable.

Officers were called to Wrotham Road in Gravesend at around 4am today after a company alarm was activated.

When they arrived they found two men in high visibility jackets, who claimed they worked for the company.

But they had no ID on them and could not prove why they were there.

They were arrested on suspicion of theft and while officers were searching their van they found a machete, a baseball bat and cable insulation.

One man aged 19 and from Gillingham and a 43-year-old man from Rochester were both arrested on suspicion of theft and are still in police custody.
