Mother and daughter suffered injuries in two-vehicle crash in Rochester Road, Gravesend

A mother and daughter were knocked down while crossing the road during the school-run this morning.

The accident happened at a pedestrian crossing following a crash between a Ford Transit van and a Renault Clio.

The two vehicles collided at a set of traffic lights and the impact forced them to hit the mother and child.

The accident happened in Rochester Road in Gravesend, at the junction of Bellman Avenue, just after 8.55am.

The mother and child suffered only minor injuries but were taken to Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford for checks.

the drivers of the vehicles are believed to have escaped unhurt.

There are three schools in the road including St John's Catholic Primary and Comprehensive schools and Gravesend Grammar School.

Parts of Rochester Road close to the schools, often become congested with traffic and pedestrians during the school-run and rush-hour periods of the day.

Police and paramedics attended the scene.
