Police have launched a major search after a young boy was seen wandering through a village in the middle of the night wearing only his pyjamas.

The youngster, said to be around five to six years old, was spotted in his Spiderman outfit and slippers at around 1.30am today.

Police dog teams and a helicopter have been sent to the site, near the Vigo pub in Gravesend Road, Vigo.

They have also been carrying out house-to-house enquiries, but no child has been reported missing.

A police spokesman said they were very concerned for his welfare, and are urging residents to check gardens and outbuildings.
