Police taped off a park amid concerns over "suspicious activity" - only to find the remains of a cat.

Residents spotted a new memorial in The Terrace, Gravesend, and raised fears it could mark a human grave.

The worries sparked purr-plexed officers to set up a cordon around part of the park and stand guard.

But following closer inspection, police found the remains of a feline this morning and removed the restriction.

Spokesman James Walker said: "At the scene officers located the remains of a cat and there are no suspicious circumstances."
