Eight ponies were seen roaming the streets after escaping from their home.

Police were called just before 1pm to reports that the unaccompanied animals had been seen in Strand Close, Meopham, and were straying into a road.

Kent Police spokesman James Walker said: "Patrols attended the area to ensure public safety and the horses were retrieved by a member of the public.
