Severe delays have cleared after a pile-up on the A2 this morning.

A stretch of the busy road was shut between Cobham and the Tollgate services in Gravesend, causing long tailbacks.

There was congestion on the M2 back to junction 3 for Chatham and Rochester, with traffic using the hard shoulder to pass the scene.

Delays had eased by midday.
