Shop staff at Imperial Retail Park, Gravesend allegedly assaulted during shoplifting attempts

A woman will appear in court after shop staff were reportedly assaulted while trying to stop a shoplifter from stealing items from a store.

Police were called to the business at Imperial Retail Park in Gravesend four times to separate incidents this month.

Several items including clothing and detergent were stolen during the incidents between April 4 and 18.

But on one occasion, two members of staff were allegedly attacked.

Gabriella Tokarova will now appear in court next month accused of two assault charges – one of assault and another of actual bodily harm – and four shoplifting offences.

The 21-year-old of Cobham Street, Gravesend was arrested on Saturday in connection with the alleged incidents.

She was released on bail to appear before Medway Magistrates' Court on May 26.

Police have not released details of the shop where the incidents took place at the retail park in Thames Way.
