A fire started in a skip left lunchtime traffic at a standstill in the middle of Gravesend town centre.

The fire, in Stone Street, caused smoke to billow down the road and into the high street.

Traffic, including two Arriva buses, was halted by police. The road has been closed to allow firefighters to deal with the blaze.

It is not known if anyone was hurt in the fire but it is believed it was contained to just one skip.
