A safe reported stolen from the Gravesend Gurdwara found during arrest and returned unopened

A safe reported stolen from a temple in Gravesend was found during an arrest.

The safe, which was discovered unopened, returned to representatives of the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara in Saddington Street yesterday by Kent Police.

It had been reported stolen from the temple between midnight and 2am on Friday, June 24 but was recovered from a vehicle following the arrest of a man in connection with the incident.

It took two officers to carry the heavy safe back to the Gurdwara.

Inquiries are ongoing and officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to call the appeal line on 01474 366149 quoting reference XY/24142/16.
