Kent prison officer Robert Norman from Swanscombe charged over 'corrupt payments' by Metropolitan Police officers from Operation Elveden

A prison officer from Kent has been charged in connection with alleged corrupt payments.

Robert Norman, from Swanscombe, is to appear in court with Sun journalist Stephen Moyes.

The 53-year-old serving prison officer was charged by officers from Scotland Yard's Operation Elveden.

The arrest was made by officers from Scotland Yard

He was arrested on June 11 last year and yesterday charged with conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office.

Norman was released on police bail to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, May 8.

Reporter Moyes, 40, from New Malden, is summonsed to the same court on the same date on suspicion of the same offence.

He was initially interviewed under caution on June 24 last year.

Operation Elveden is running alongside Operation Weeting, which is looking into alleged phone hacking, and Operation Tuleta, investigating claims of computer hacking.
