STOLEN: 1969 Austin Minor

AUDACIOUS thieves have stolen two classic cars from properties in the Gravesend area. A 1976 Ford Granada belonging to Anthony McGrath was taken from a private car park on June 5.

Mr McGrath, of West Street, Gravesend, has owned the classic motor for more than 27 years.

He said: "The vehicle had been sat in the car park for the last four years as it needed some work done on it, but I couldn't afford to do it at the moment.

"Whoever has done this obviously knows the layout of the car park as it is a private area for residents only."

The white vehicle was valued at £2,000 and was not roadworthy so it would have had to of been towed away.

A second classic car was stolen from a garage in Dale Road, Southfleet, on Tuesday June 24. David Waters, who owns the 1969 Austin Minor, discovered the car was missing at 8pm.

It is believed the car may have been pushed out of the garage and off the driveway as the owner was at home when the theft took place.

The car is blue with an AA badge on the radiator. It is valued at £3,500.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the cars, or anyone acting suspiciously, to contact them on 01322 283111 or Crimestoppers, free and confidentially, on 0800 555111.
